Called Piaman

I am going to talk about my hometown, Pariaman.  It is a small city which is located along the coastline of the Indian ocean, western part of Indonesia and the western most of West Sumatra. It is particularly a small city near the beach, not too hot and not too cold, typical tropical cities where the rain falls in rainy season and hot in dry season.

Back then, the city pariaman was a part of Padang Pariaman regency which lies from Kayu Tanam to Batang Anai, from Lubuk Alung to Tiku. It was a big regency. But now it is splitted into two administrations, Pariaman and Padang Pariaman administration. The regency is Padang Pariaman with the capital in Parit Malintang. The city administration is Pariaman itself which lies along Pariaman coastal area. They are now run by two different mayors, but they are still known as Pariaman which is so famous for its tradition and culture.

The most famous beach in Pariaman, Gondoriah beach, hold very important role in Pariaman tourism. The beach is where Tabuik held every year. It is easy to reach where train station spoils the visitors and brings them right to door step of Gandoriah beach. Thus, if you want to go to Gandoriah beach, you can take the train which costs only 5000 rupiah from Padang or airport. On the train, you will be spoiled by the beauty of countryside nature with amazing mountain range, hills, vallley and farm areas. You will feel like Pariaman is like no others!

Who knows Pariaman Tabuik? Tabuik is very iconic which becomes more and more popular for this unique celebration and ceremony. Although the population of Pariaman is predominantly Sunni, a famous and popular festival of Shia origin named Tabuik (from Arabic "tabut" meaning coffin), is held annually in the city every 10 Muharram, the Day of Ashura. The area of Gandoriah beach will be filled by thousands of people when Pariamanese are celebrating Tabuik. However, it is not really famous among the international tourists. The government should promote more and sell it with good tour package.

Visit Pariaman! Whatsapp me if you are there!
